The Ins and Outs of Wall Racks

If you are looking to save space in your garage and keep things organized, then using a wall rack is often the best option. Wall racks will keep your bicycle off of the floor and out of the way when you need some extra space. While floor racks do keep your garage or other space organized, they do not keep your bicycle off the ground. Keeping your bike off the ground gives you more space and makes maintaining the bike simpler. Since your bike is not resting on the ground you won't have to worry about water, rust, or rodents.

Folding Wall Bike Racks
The best way to save space in a garage is to use a folding wall bike rack. This will allow you to fold the rack up and save even more space when you are using your bicycle. These folding racks usually hold one or two bicycles vertically by using hooks to hang the bicycle frames. The types of racks are also ideal if you have a custom frame because they will work with nearly any type of frame.

Vertical Wall Bike Racks
Vertical bike racks hold your bicycle, you guessed it, vertically from the floor. Usually a hook or some other apparatus attaches to the rear wheel of a bicycle effectively hanging it upside down. These racks can usually hold up to two bicycles at a time. While these racks usually don't fold up, the do save a great amount of space by keeping the bicycle off of the floor.

Bike Hooks
A bike hook is possibly the simplest kind of bike rack. You simply attach the base of the hook to your wall and then bring the "U" shaped hook around the rear tire of your bicycle and attach the hook to the base. Your bike will hang vertically until you decide to take it down for a ride.
