Using Ceiling Bike Racks
Bicycle Safety
I know, I know, ceiling bike racks and bicycle safety aren't really related, but I've not had a chance to mention safety in this website and I feel that it is very important. What is the number one safety tip when it comes to riding a bike? Say it with me, "Wear a helmet!" This simple procedure saves countless lives every year, as most bicycle accidents involve the head. Your helmet should fit securely and all straps should be secured. A loose helmet or one without the straps secured isn't going to help you any if you are in an accident of any kind. Also wear protective padding on the elbows and knees just in case you happen to crash and burn at some point during your ride. If you are going to be biking through town, make sure that you know the hand signals to indicate in which direction you will be traveling. A fully stretched left arm indicates that you will be turning left. If you are turning right, you should indicate this by bending your left hand at the elbow, fingers toward the sky. When you are going to stop, the signal is the opposite, your left hand bent at the elbow with your fingers pointing toward the ground. If you are going to be biking at night, having headlights, taillights, and reflectors are the best way to avoid any accidents. If your child is biking, make sure that you are watching them at all times. Children, especially small children, are often unaware of their surroundings, which can prove to be very dangerous. Most bicycle accidents involve small children. Keeping children in the yard or driveway is a great way to prevent any accidents from occurring.
