Different Bike Racks

Single Bike Floor Stand
What's the point of having a bike stand that can accommodate three or four bicycles when you only own one? Simply, there is no point. In your case, purchasing a single bike rack is the best option. These racks are generally very small and attach only to the front or back tire. This portable rack is great if you need to store your bike in the garage, office, or dorm room.

Double Storage Rack System
Most floor racks are going to be made to hold two bicycles. These types of racks are great if you are looking to keep a space organized although they don't save much space. Usually these types of racks look like one large rack folded over. Simply insert either the front or back wheel into the narrow tire space and you are on your way.

Locking Floor Stand
Locking floor stands are usually made for only one bicycle. This is a great rack if you are looking to show off your bike at a show or something like that. Much like a single floor rack this type of rack kind of looks like a long rack folded over. It differs in that the back portion of the rack actually folds over the back tire, keeping the bike in place.

Public Bike Racks
When most people envision bike racks, the long silver bike racks in front of a public place comes to mind. These long bike racks are ideal for storing your bicycle if you have the proper paraphernalia. Whenever you are storing your bike in public it is important to remember to lock your bike to the stand. Many bike locks contain a length of chain or plastic that makes this a simple procedure. So...while we are on the subject...

Bike Locks
The most common type of bicycle lock is the cable lock. This type of lock is lightweight and can be carried in a backpack or even by hand. These locks are made of metal that is coiled and braided together. Generally these are locked with a barrel lock which requires a combination code or a number. Another kind of bicycle lock is a chain lock. This kind of lock is probably the safest as it is very hard to break. Chain locks are usually secured with a padlock. Shackle locks are "U" shaped locks that have a straight pipe that attaches to either side of the "U". While these locks are a bit cumbersome, they are very effective in safely storing your bike.
